Did you know honor is mentioned 147 times in the Bible?
I often tell people I am honored to be there friend. At times I receive a strange look. With me I grew up from a young age of having the mindset of honoring people. I proudly served 10 years in the United States Air Force with Honor. We were taught honor in basic training. But it is evident to me that many inside the 4 walls of the Church don’t know how to honor because it rarely happens.
Many have been told in the church that people, especially leaders, are not supposed to be honored. Please do a search and read the 147 texts that talk about honor. When people tell you that we’re not supposed to honor each other, it contradicts about 200 other scriptures. It’s a lie. People who say that are afraid of people walking in pride. But they’re walking in pride because they’re walking in false humility! Deuteronomy 26:19 will shock your socks off. “He has declared that He will set you in praise, fame, and honor high above all the nations He has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as He promised.” God is talking about honoring you!
In First Samuel 2:30, God says, “. . . Those who honor Me, I will honor, but those who despise Me will be disdained.” God is saying, “If you honor Me, I will honor you.” Honor’s pretty important to our God, and honor is very important to people. We see honor in the Bible in the form of coats, sashes, and crowns. Joseph was given a coat of honor. It’s being set apart. We need to understand the chain of command that exists in organizations and properly honor the leaders.
We live in a nation today that has very little honor. The majority of our young people do not know the meaning of honor. I was in line the other day and a young man pushed through me and said hey old man move out of my way! Honor is verbalizing how someone is seen through God’s eyes. So often we’re afraid to praise or edify others. We don’t want them to get a “big head,” so therefore, we don’t honor .Honoring one another is honoring God. God speaks through others. When you honor those whom He has spoken through, you honor Him. I want all of you to know , I am Honored to be your friend
