Your Success Zone…

Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.  In fact, I believe most people fail in life simply because they major in minor things. I believe that one of life’s major lessons is learning to understand what makes us do what we do. I am confident you have heard many things about your comfort zone correct? How about your SUCCESS ZONE?  We have all purchased self-help books, audio programs and taken seminars that were supposed to improve our performance and change our lives. After completing them, we were highly motivated and even made temporary changes, only to find that within a few days or a few weeks we were right back to where we were before! The solutions are often like putting new paint on an old rusty building. No matter how good it looks at first, we have to deal with what’s underneath the paint eventually. The paint is positive thinking, and underneath is our unworkable beliefs that keep us from producing positive results. How does that make you feel when this happens? Do you ever feel like giving up? I can say that at one time I actually did. See, Life works according to principle and physical law. If it didn’t, you couldn’t fly an airplane, because there would be no gravity, there would be no such thing as electricity, and one-plus-one would not equal two. The laws of the universe are totally dependable. Now if this is true, and I promise you it is then why do most people just continue to wander through life? I believe it is because they are not hungry enough to do whatever it takes to go to the next level in their journey. Any time you sincerely want to make a change, the first thing you must do is to raise your standards. If you are not willing to change your standards in what you allow to think about, associate with and be willing to invest in your own personal development you are wasting your time! Our beliefs are like unquestioned commands, telling us how things are, what’s possible and what’s impossible, what we can and cannot do. They shape every action, every thought, and every feeling that we experience. As a result, changing our belief systems is central to making any real and lasting change in our lives. The fundamental law to which all other laws conform is the Law of Cause and Effect. The Law of Cause and Effect says that the effect or result of any situation must be equal to the cause. The cause is always an idea or belief. Another way of describing the Law of Cause and Effect is the example of sowing and reaping, or action and reaction. Or, put in a modern-day context – My ideas are created into my results. One of my core beliefs is that if you set a higher standard, and you can get yourself to believe, then you certainly can figure out the strategies. We can only receive what our minds are capable of accepting. We can go to the river of life with a teaspoon, and someone else may go with a cup. Someone else may go with a bucket, and yet another person may go with a barrel. But the abundance of the river is always there and waiting. Our consciousness, our ideas, our frame of reference and our belief system determine whether we go to the river of life with a teaspoon, a cup, a bucket or a barrel. If we are impoverished in our thinking, the only limitation is in our mind. The truth is we can have anything we want if we’ll give up the belief that we can’t have it. It’s as simple as that. You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action. Now, let me remind you the ACTION is NOT another seminar, CD or book. Those are all a necessary component of your SUCCESS Zone, however you MUST change your subconscious THINKING patterns FIRST. Then and only then will you enter into your success zone. You and I attract the people and circumstances that resonate with who we are and what we are called to do. I attract a certain type of person into my world. I attract people who feel called to make a difference – and they frequently are very different. They have a strong sense of personal destiny, a personal mission they must accomplish. They have a strong core value centered on helping others. To help them command the full scope of they’re potential. If you are tired of putting new information on top of a limitation mindset you have found your answer. My calling is to complete the blueprint of these people’s lives; to help them command the full scope of they’re potential. I am committed to helping you accelerate the journey between where you are and where you are called to be. There is treasure buried in your field and I will help you find it. Let me know if this was meant for you. Become a Better You! John Ramsey

For those seeking the Truth…

We have been given authority over this planet. It was first given to us in the commission God gave to mankind in Genesis (see Gen. 1:28-29) and was then restored to us by Jesus after His resurrection (see Matt. 28:18). But Kingdom authority is different than is typically understood by many believers. It is the authority to set people free from IGNORANCE to destroy the works of darkness. It is the authority to bring Heaven to earth. It is the authority to serve. Many love to quote scripture and say the TRUTH will set you FREE! My question is from what? See, I believe we have been fed a lie and that is what keeps many captive. The lie is in many ways spread from developing a Religious Mindset. Before I go much further I have been accused by many to be overly BOLD.  I mention this because if you side with the timid I would advise you to stop reading now. For those seeking the Truth… As I travel around the world doing teaching and training events and coaching clients, I am truly amazed at the number of people who tell me they are living in a stare of confusion. Most of them are searching for something in their lives that seems to be missing, something that lets them know they make a difference in this world they all appear to have one thing in common—they have lost their dream and vision for what they were created to do. Too many people in our society have settled for mediocrity. I believe with all my heart that each one of us has been given unique gifts from our Creator and that each of us is called to apply those gifts to a purpose in life. What I believe gets in the way is we tend to seek approval of man and NOT follow and pursue the calling and purpose  God had given us. Religion can do much damage to live and we begin to live in conformity. When we approach the work we need to do from a perspective of personal growth and allowing ourselves to get better, we become adventurous and more willing to try new things. Possibilities that were once dismissed instantly are considered worthy of our attention and often lead to breakthroughs. You may not realize it, but skill, talent, and ability are sitting dormant in you, waiting to come out. If you are genuinely seeking to release these gifts, I want to give you a shortcut, a direct path to rediscover and awaken those gifts that have been buried inside you. Because of the transformations that I have seen in my own life and in the lives of my clients, I believe that the Bible is the greatest success book ever written. It is jam-packed full of wisdom, insights, and messages—God’s direct communications with us.Where I differ however, is I believe most Christians are NOT receiving the message in the correct way. There is a certain way, and because of Ignorance it is blocked for many. We want to do good and be good, but our frailty and our baggage from many different influences make it hard for us to understand unity. The truth is that God’s idea of unity and humanity’s idea of unity are completely different things. We use 10 percent of our brains and our brain is not our mind although they must work in unity. If you do not understand this how in the world can we understand an infinite God? Fortunately, God’s unity is not conformity. God’s unity is absolutely diversity in harmony. Many Christians, often say to me, “You are a Christian John; you should do your coaching and events for free.” I have a problem with that. This is the lottery message in action. They have an expectation of poverty, which is getting something for nothing. Too many of us seek something for nothing. But if you’re seeking something for nothing, you’re going to get nothing! This standard that so many Christians hold manifests itself in a lack of excellence. Too many Christians, because of their poverty mind-set never are able to do what their creator has called them to do, Where does this come from you ask? I believe it comes many times from within the pulpit from a man or women of God! Now, let me say I am not suggesting that all pastors have this mindset, however many do. People are tired of religion. They are tired of the traditional crap. They want excellence, they want success, and they want fame. I truly believe God wants us in the marketplace because that’s where the people are. And He wants us there with excellence. Excellence attracts, results attract. Many people in the Church are asking, “What can I do that’s purposeful?” And many of them secretly, strongly desire to make a whole lot of money. They need to be freed to understand that God wants them to be wealthy and that He has a purpose for all of that money. The Bible says that money is the answer to everything (see Eccles. 10:19).  I didn’t write that. You can argue with God about that. In Colossians 3:23 it says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” (See also Proverbs 21:5.) . Yet we’ve taken the Bible, applied it with our own selfish motives, and put people in a box called religion.  The word religion, when it is translated from the Greek, means “bondage.” Religion was created by man. We’ve put them in this little place and said, “You better look like this, dress like this, and you shouldn’t say stuff like that or you’re going to get in trouble.” As I stated in the beginning of this blog I am considered a bold person. I almost gave in to man’s opinions.I started praying about it, and I said, “Lord, do You want me to do these things?” I said, “Take my boldness away, I wanted Him to take it away because it offended Christians. But He said, “I gave you that boldness, and you will use it for My glory. “Just as Esther was trained up for such a time as her time, I have trained you up for such a time as this. You be who I created you to be, and you will conform to the image of Christ, not to the image of man.” I believe if you are truly wanting to do what the creator of the universe has called you to do you must abolish religion and seek the relationship that only he can provide. What Story Are You Stuck In?

Many have asked me what do you mean” become a better you”? Quite simply the YOU the creator of the universe created! In our society today it seems we are always trying to be  and do like the latest fad . Always copying what is in and making sure we do not fall out of grace with our friends and society. In the presence of REAL friends  however you can be mad, confused, and vulnerable with no worries of being judged unfairly. You can also ask for things you would never ask of anyone else and have an expectation that they will do everything they can to make it happen. They won’t think of you as moody or selfish because they know your heart. Real friends have seen you high, low, and everywhere in between… and choose to be around you anyway! For several years after leaving the military I was in a personal struggle with direction and purpose. There was a conflict in me that I couldn’t explain or seem to make go away. My thoughts all surrounded the theme, “I am NOT Good enough!”  Sometimes, we are working really hard to keep our problems and don’t even realize it. There are many possibilities for why, but basically the situations, dramas, self-limitations and even illnesses  serve us in some way.  There’s a payoff.  You ask how is that John”? They may give us “legitimate” excuses for letting ourselves off the hook for other  things. “I can’t do that because I’m not qualified.” “I can’t even think about anything else until this crisis is over.” Or, they may validate subconscious limiting beliefs. “That’s just the way it is for me.” Whatever the case, the story is a never-ending loop that keeps us stuck, chasing our tails instead of finding solutions In speaking with my coach  during this challenging time in my life, he shared with me something he felt like God wanted me to know. He spoke for a bit about some very encouraging and insightful things that really built my faith because he couldn’t have known them outside of God’s intervention. That was great, but the part that made it matter today is what I want to share with you, in hopes that it will spur you on in the same way it has me. After sharing a lengthy bit of knowledge he said, “…God said, YOU are GOOD Enough for Him…” He had no idea what I was thinking about or wrestling with, only what he heard. However, in that moment, my life changed. The life I want (we don’t have enough room or time for me to go through it all) is ridiculously huge. I mean to the point of absurdity… and I love it!! Every bit of it is in my DNA! Since I turned my efforts toward the true desires of my heart I realized that it was God Himself who put them there! Therefore, each and every move toward them is in alignment with His will and set in motion for His purposes! I couldn’t possibly think up some of the stuff that I burn for. Most of my life was spent in fear of things 1/10th the size of things I long for now. Not just one thing…ALL OF IT!!! Call me what you want (and some of you will), but if the God that created everything wants to blow my mind, I’m in!  Some of these things pose immense challenges and hard work, probable rejection from some people, and an enormous risk of failure by human standards. After all, there’s no way I can do them on my own. Not even one of them! And I want it all to happen anyway! (I’m going to wear out my exclamation (!) key) Here’s the thing… what I want may not excite you in the least. You shouldn’t want my stuff anyway. Want what’s on your heart. You may not like me, but God does. He gets how extreme and over-the-top I am. He gets that I want seemingly unattainable things and I want them all at the same time! He totally gets me when I tell Him, “It’s never been done this way before and everyone says it has to be the old way, but I don’t want it that way. Let’s do it a new way!“. You are Good Enough for Him” This six-word revelation has stoked my fire to a brand new height. I really can’t find more words to explain it and that’s saying something! Better than even my closest friends, God  says the John he created is Good enough!… and He says the YOU he created is also. Open your heart, you won’t surprise Him. Allow the desires of your heart to pour out and He’ll show you what to do. And like those best friends, but much better, He will always be there to see you through. Become a Better you, John

You Grow, Your Business Grows…

“What do my personal relationships and habits have to do with growing my business?”  You could insert your area of growth in there too. Without fail, there is a misunderstanding in a coaching relationship when we begin talking about things other than business. Things of a more personal nature. For some reason, we think that using the words like “business” or “career” makes things less personal.  As if every business was not made up of people. Each of us with our own design, style, and history. Each job within a business is intimately tied to the person doing the job. It’s even more true of the business owner. The business and brand of a company is a direct reflection of the person at the top of it. We cannot separate professional aspirations from the person. If the person is in a rut, the business is in a rut. If the person is not trustworthy, the brand will not be trusted. I have seen far too many promising entrepreneurs and professionals try to convince themselves that it is ok to ignore all of their personal issues and expect their business to grow. They soon learn that tactic fails every time. How do we end up trying to create a career or business that is separate from the people we long to be? We begin the separation when we hit the ceiling of our personal capacity. If I stop growing as a person, my business will not outgrow me. Personal growth is often uncomfortable,  so I start hoping my business is a separate thing that I can focus on instead. It isn’t, so I stall. Our personal growth is not as important as our business growth…it’s MORE important. Personal growth means that I am recognizing who I am, how I’m designed, and nourishing my particular gifts. As those gifts develop, they become strengths. Any business built on or by the strengths of the owner will flourish as the owner does. You grow, your business grows. You stop growing… To make sure we keep growing, our first task is to acknowledge our design. Seeing my strengths is one part, but an often ignored aspect is desire. What pulls on you? What are the desires of your heart? This answer alone can start the momentum of growth, if we will embrace it. Many people don’t embrace the desires of their heart because they have been taught that those desires are selfish. I want to propose to you though that the desires of our hearts are a direct reflection of what we allow into our heart. If I allow selfishness and malice into my heart, my desires are selfish and unconcerned with others. If I allow love and compassion into my heart, my desires reach well beyond any benefits they bring to me. How do I make sure the right things are pouring into my heart? I draw close to the one who designed it. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in The Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” That Psalm can be interpreted a couple of ways. The first is that God will give you the object of your heart’s desire. The second is more accurate I think. That God will place the desires in your heart. Doesn’t that sound like a perfect plan?! The designer knows what works best, so why not let Him decide what goes in there? If God Himself has placed the desires in my heart, who am I to doubt them? This is where personal growth really starts. I trust God to have designed me exactly as I should be. In that trust I open my heart to being the best ME I possibly can because my desires require it. The beauty of our design is that we can never reach our full potential in this life. We’re infinite! That’s a beautiful thing because we will never have to stop growing. Now that I can see how much there is for myself and the world to gain by my never-ending growth, everyday is spent getting better. As I get better, everything I touch has the chance to get bigger and better with me. Including my profession. If you find you’re stuck or lagging, turn your focus to your own growth. Trust your designer, love your design, and see how far you can go. Become  a Better You! John Ramsey

Stay where God calls you until He speaks again…

You can reach almost anyone, anywhere, any time by pressing a button on your phone. So people want instant results all the time, and when they don’t get the results that they want, they get disillusioned and they bail. But that’s the world’s system, not God’s. Instead of trying to find results outside of ourselves, and trying to get quick fixes, we should be trying to fix ourselves—to fix our hearts. Only God can do that.  He has to change us to enable us to OCCUPY what we Envision.  See, people will say that they’ve been “called” to something, or that they’ve been praying for this opportunity. Sure, they say that on the front end. Then they get involved, and they find out it’s not easy, that it takes real work. We can try to bypass God’s system all we want, but we’ll never embrace our destiny. Those who complete the blueprint for their personal destiny will find themselves woven into the fabric of God’s plans for the destiny of their Generation and Nations. The greatest mantles and anointing ever released on earth are about to come upon the people of God who merge their work and careers into the calling of God as Agents of Change of the New Covenant and Ambassadors of the kingdom.Don’t run back to where you came from. Living On Target…

On Target Living  is not an all-or-nothing proposition. If you, like many of my clients, told me that you needed help living your life on Target which is essentially being balanced, I would need to ask you why. The answers are different for every person and reveal that most people view life-balance as something to achieve and maintain.  How many other parts of your life stay the same for any length of time? Our lives are dynamic and alive! They aren’t the same from one week to the next and priorities are constantly shifting and evolving. If we attempt to stay balanced throughout, we end up short-changing ourselves in some area and begin to build resentment. We require something more fluid and engaging than balance. Each of us has the ability to play the game of life with balance, harmony and joy, but we need to know the rules and the principles. Life works according to principle and physical law. If it didn’t, you couldn’t fly an airplane, because there would be no gravity, there would be no such thing as electricity, and one-plus-one would not equal two. The laws of our God created universe are totally dependable. Without an understanding of the laws, through ignorance, you cannot live your life on target. No one has only two parts of their life. If we only consider the popular notions of professional, health, spiritual, personal growth, family, friends, hobbies, etc. you can see that there are myriad areas to every life. I have heard experts separate nearly everything else away from professional as an attempt to simplify. How does that work? Separate health from professional and how effective are you? Personal growth from professional? You won’t stay on top for long. Family from professional? Why are you working in the first place? On and on we can go with only one point to make; every area of your life is dependent on the others. Some of them get greater time and attention, but not because they are more or less important. You give them different levels of energy because that is what is required to fulfill your vision and live your life on target. This is where the answer to our question lies. Can personal and financial success exist together? Absolutely! If  that is the vision for your life. Imagine your life as a magnificent symphony. Before the first note is played, the composer has a purposeful vision for the result and lays it out in notes, sounds, moods, timing. Then the conductor receives the sheet music to bring it to life. In our case, the composer and conductor are the same. We take the role of creating and putting the vision into action. Each section of instruments receives their role. The instruments do not dictate to the conductor or composer what their role will be. The percussionist doesn’t say, “No way  I’m gonna bang on this tympani drum through the whole thing!” He plays what he’s told, when he’s told. When we start with the purposeful vision for living our life on target and what we want our lives to be, the various sections of our lives fall into their roles. We don’t allow one area to dictate the roles of the rest or force an area to play smaller than it needs. We allow them all to play according to our vision. When we do, the emotion, purpose, and passion pours out in everything we do. No matter how big or small the area or activity, it complements the whole with beautiful clarity and intention. And like the patrons that witness a virtuoso performance from the symphony, those that witness your life are in awe of the gifts and beauty you bring to the world. Individuals define personal and financial success, not groups. Only you decide what constitutes winning, because you make the rules to the game. What do you want your life to look like? Start there and put everything else into its proper measure. Become a Better you! John

A Process of Learning…

Learning is a process of acquiring skills or knowledge. Generally, there are two types of learning models that you can follow. One is an Effective Learning Model that will lead you to hit your targets with fruitful results. The other one is an Ineffective Learning Model that will entrap you in a cycle of disappointment and frustration. David Hemery’s book, Sporting Excellence, where he studied the common factors separating the performance of high achievers from others, showed that natural talent is not enough: “The mind is considered to have the greatest part to play in improving performances in the future” and he concluded “Most of the achievers believed, to a large extent, that they controlled their own destiny…they were all very balanced individuals and also possessed a positive view on life. In the 1950’s Abraham Maslow, an American psychologist and one of the founders of humanistic psychology, started to look at the fulfilment of human potential through self-awareness. Later on Daniel Goleman introduced the idea of emotional intelligence where the individuals social skills evolve from knowing and managing their personal emotions and motivations. This move towards personal development encompassed other disciplines and life coaching has drawn on this multi-disciplinary background developing over the years into a powerful tool for personal change and growth. Coaching is now well recognized as a developmental tool for peak performers. I implement a Coaching strategy that utilizes the principles taught in the Bible from the Master Coach, along with some insights of Quantum Physics, I show anyone who is SEEKING TRUTH how Science and Theology when presented in the order they were intended to be result in a Journey to Excellence!

The Power Of Proximity

One of the most common issues I receive questions about revolves around a two-fold question. “Who am I and what do I want to do?” This problem plays out in a circle because our society places more weight on what someone does than who someone is. Let me show you what I mean. When someone asks you, “Who are you?” your inclined to give them your name. Your name is NOT who you are, but is an easy label of identification. When someone asks you, “What do you do?” how do you respond? For the majority of the world, the answer aligns with a profession or job. For hundreds of years we have taken much, if not all, of our identity from what we do. Many last names are derived from the profession of the person… carpenter, miller, smith, etc. We have become so accustomed to our professions being the source of our self-image and our names being the measure of who we are; we have lost our sense of something very important… our selves. If you really want to figure out what to do with your life in a professional capacity, you first need to know who you are beyond your name. When you know who are, a profession is only an extension of who you are. Working out the expression of your calling and identity can happen in a variety of contradictory circumstances. You are a unique expression of  God, and as such you carry a signature presence. Its effect on the environment is stronger when you are filled with God’s Spirit.  The opposite is also true—people can be filled with other spirits and their presence can wear you down, intimidate and inhibit, or provoke you to unwise acts. Make a decision to monitor your “state” and take note of how others affect you. Never surrender your internal freedom to an external influence. If you are not stronger (I did not say better) than the one influencing you, it would be wise to leave their presence and engage when you are better advantaged. PROXIMITY IS POWER It is always amazing to me that change occurs in my life just by being around people.Proverbs says over and over again that wise people make relationships a choice, not a coincidence. Proverbs 14:7 Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge. We’re going to end up doing what the people we spend the most time with are doing.  Wisdom is looking to the future and seeing what we can do now to be the people that we want to be in the years to come. And that means it is wisdom to limit certain people from influencing your life, and seeking others out who are living the life that you want, need, and were made by God to have. Not “meeting words of knowledge” like it says in the verse, is more than just a lack of information. It’s talking about a deficit of truth within the relationship.Wisdom is a must in relationships, especially in a society that puts so much emphasis on feelings and desires. Wisdom will allow you to manage your feelings and desire what is truly the best for you, not just what feels right now. We all must understand the power of proximity, it’s just cause and effect it  increases your attentiveness, and allows you to grasp a situation. Sometimes you may have to go to the geographical place God’s calling you to go before the other pieces will fall into place. This will require a period of transition, Transition is the phase of life and process that is meant to form congruence within you. Transition is a phase where some things are ending. There is a change coming to the way you think and feel—a change in your very identity. Transition moves you toward the alignment of your ultimatecalling and the unveiling of your true God identity as a man or woman in His image. The cool thing is that who you are can be expressed through any number of professions. Contrary to what so many of us seem to think; what I do does not equal who I am. When you utter what God says in the sphere you are called to, your words have an effect. Your utterance is one of the demonstrations of the unique expression of God that is meant to flow through you, and it affects the atmosphere at several levels. It can literally shift a room full of people or key individuals one way or another. The people you are called to impact will feel the impact of who you are. So who are you? To begin, make a list of things you love. What are the commonalities of those things? What are the common traits that surface in you while doing those things? What are things you got in trouble for as a kid or adult? Just because the people in charge decided it was subversive doesn’t mean that it is. It’s more likely that the thing which got you in trouble was a gift of yours, overextended due to immaturity. Even more likely is that is wasn’t really a big deal but was inconvenient for them. What came out of you in those moments? What are the things you stopped doing because someone told you to stop showing off? Maybe you outshined everyone around you so badly that the backlash caused you to see it as bad. Don’t kid yourself into thinking that playing small is humility. It isn’t.  Look at the list and attach some descriptive words. Use bold, expressive words that stir you. These are closer to describing who you are than any profession could. For example; I can look at my life and easily identify recurring traits that get me very close to telling me who I am. Words like radical, extreme, encourager, influential, teacher, and fighter are easy indicators for me. You could take a snap shot of various times of my life and see these in various forms throughout. Here’s where I may lose you though, because they only tell part of the story. Those traits in me or whatever the traits are for you are like bullets without a gun. Their power is not in themselves but in the proper combination with something that guides and activates them. I spent many years letting those traits fly wildly or lay dormant in response to the environment around me. Regardless of the kind of people or situations, those traits could come out but were seldom guided. It is like going into a job just because you can meet the task requirements. Being able to execute tasks is one thing, but having a framework that activates and guides who I am is another. In this situation we feel stifled, frustrated, and disempowered because of the mismatch. Regardless of the tasks or title of a job, if it doesn’t provide room for me, I’ll never excel. There is one more aspect to this conversation that plays a bigger role in who you are than even the traits that describe you: the One that created you with those traits. The traits I carry around have enormous potential… for huge amounts of damage if not guided and activated properly. I could get lucky and find a job that does a decent job of this, but I’m still limited once I leave that job and go home. Job duties seldom translate to the rest of my life. Only when I identify with who I am in God and what He has for me do I gain the perspective and context of the traits and gifts I possess. The context of His love and purpose in my life lets the traits spread out through my entire existence for the purpose of good. Nothing escapes. And that is where I want to leave you with your thoughts. Who are you? What can you learn from your loves, challenges, and the excellence inside ? If you were able to wake everyday knowing you could be 100% yourself… what would that be worth? And if you have yet to explore who you are in the context of who God created you to be, please do. It is not only part of who I am to ask the question, but to care about the answer. Please let me know. Become a better you! JR
